Pandemic Portraits

RE-CREATED…

Five Years later.

2020…

…2025

How can a photograph help you reflect on the passage of time?

At the beginning of the pandemic, I photographed hundreds of Chicago families ‘staying at home’, and together we raised over $12,000 for the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
It’s 5 years later and our lives are back to normal.
But - too many people in our city still cannot afford to feed their families, and it doesn’t look like the state of things in our country will improve anytime soon.

This spring, I re-visited 10 of these families and photographed them in the exact same poses as their pandemic portraits, in order to highlight growth and change over the past 5 years.
The RE-CREATED project raised over $1400 for the food bank while giving the families a meaningful and fun platform to compare the present to the past.

Thank you to the families who paused their busy lives for a few moments to participate in the RE-CREATED project. ❤️

2020 Front Porch Portraits

Erielle Bakkum Photography has donated $12,200 to
The Greater Chicago Food Depository!

Hundreds of Chicago families were photographed staying at home during the Covid-19 pandemic. I am so incredibly grateful to the families who have made this such a fulfilling project, and who have given so generously to others in need.

Update: The project is over and I have resumed regular photo sessions.
